Privacy Policy
This policy covers two things: this website, hardcanon.com, and the Hard Canon desktop application (“the app”). “We” and “us” means The Thomas Nielsen LLC.
This website
Contact: If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you send. We use it only to respond to you.
Hosting: This is a static site hosted on Google Cloud (Firebase Hosting). Like any web host, Google records standard server log data when serving pages (IP address, browser type, pages requested, approximate location). See Google’s privacy policy for details.
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. We do not sell your information, run advertising, or use your data for marketing.
The Hard Canon app
No account, no telemetry. The app does not require an account and does not send usage analytics or crash reports to us.
Your stories stay on your device. Saved games, world state, generated images, and spend ledgers are written to your local user-data folder. We have no server that receives them.
AI providers you choose. The app generates narration, images, and speech by sending the current story context to a model you select:
With a local model, inference runs entirely on your machine and nothing leaves it.
With a cloud provider (for example OpenRouter, Fal.AI, or a speech provider), the story text needed for that request is sent to that provider under your own API key and their privacy terms. Where the provider supports it, the app requests no-storage / no-training handling. We never see this traffic; it goes directly from your device to the provider. We do not resell AI usage and earn nothing on tokens you buy.
API keys you enter are encrypted at rest on your device and are not transmitted to us.
How long we keep it
Email correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle your inquiry and for our business records. Website server logs are retained by Google according to its policies. App data lives only on your device and is deleted when you delete it.
Third parties
For the website, we share information only with service providers needed to operate it (currently Google Cloud) or when required by law. For the app, the only third parties are the AI providers you configure yourself.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. California residents have rights under the CCPA. To exercise any of these, email us at the address below.
Children
This site and the app are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
We may update this policy; the date above reflects the latest version.
